:  a test to determine susceptibility or immunity to scarlet fever by an injection of scarlet fever toxin

Biographical Note for DICK TEST

Dick, George Frederick (1881–1967), and Gladys Henry (1881–1963), American physicians. In 1923 the Dicks isolated the hemolytic streptococcus that causes scarlet fever. They also developed the toxin used for immunization and a method for preventing the disease—a toxin-antitoxin injection. The Dick test was developed in 1924.
